Protesters to Rally at Newcastle Civic Centre Against Brutal Welfare Reforms
“Welfare Not Warfare” – Demand Full Withdrawal of the Bill

Protesters will gather at Newcastle Civic Centre on Tuesday 8th July at 1pm to oppose the government’s latest welfare reform bill, which campaigners describe as brutal, unjust, and dehumanising.

Organised under the slogan “Welfare Not Warfare,” the demonstration is a response to sweeping benefit cuts and increasing pressure on vulnerable people. Despite recent government concessions, campaigners say these do not go far enough.

“Concessions are not enough — we demand a full withdrawal of the bill. We will leave no one behind,” said a spokesperson for the organisers.

“These reforms attack the most vulnerable in our society while billions are spent on war and tax concessions for multinationals.

It’s time to stand together and say: invest in people, not warfare.”

The protest is open to all. Community groups, trade unions, and individuals are encouraged to bring banners, raise their voices, and show solidarity.
